Meet Owl, Quince's new wool/alpaca yarn! It's soooo lovely.

made

Imogen is really into doll play right now, so I recently bought her a little bed for her babies. The bed seemed too hard and empty without textile components, so project #1 on my sewing to-do list was a padded "mattress" and pillow for it. Immie woke up from her nap to find these small presents in the babe bed--she was so excited!

I'm glad I started with these easy, quick projects. It was fun to hear the wurr of my machine and to have two finished projects in such a short time. More sewing!!

Also...check out this conversation post I did with A butterfly in my hair. Thank you so much, V, for inviting me to your blog space.

Something small for me in Storm/Osprey.
And, finally, my sewing machine is set up. Ready to go. We'll see what happens next.

Immie likes Taproot, too.

Looking forward to this weekend. I'll be spending time with Immie, visiting some family, knitting a bit, and reading the new issue of Taproot.

studio visit

Immie came down to my studio for a little visit last weekend. Even though the little barn is in our backyard, she really doesn't spend much time in there. But this weekend I let her "help" me organize.

Also, I asked her to pick out her favorite color from my bin of Q yarns. She chose Lupine and said "boo". It's a lovely blue/purple--the color of her Immie blanket. So interesting! I thought for sure she'd pick pomegranate or clay. I love getting to know this little person.

(Guess someone's going to be getting a Lupine sweater sometime this year...)

scarves etc. 2013

Thought I'd share the Scarves lookbook here, too. We've been frantically working at Quince to get this released.

I love the color palette Pam put together. She's an amazing stylist/creative director. And all the designs are fantastic! I'm so happy with this collection. Hope you enjoy it, too.

I'm thrilled to be apart of the blog tour celebrating the release of Kelbourne Woolens: Volume 1, a book that includes many of our favorite patterns by Kate and Courtney, all in The Fibre Company's yarns, of course.

I have a soft spot in my heart for The Fibre Company as it was my first job in the yarn world. When the company was first starting out they operated a mini-mill on the edge of Munjoy Hill in Portland--just a few blocks from my apartment. I spent many hours on the carding machine or making skeins, while dreaming of all the things I'd like to knit in their yarns.

Well, years later, I'm still imaging what I would like to make in their yarns! Here is the sweater Hawthorn, in Road to China light, and an outfit I could easily (wish to) pair with it.

And guess what? You can enter a giveaway for a copy of the book by leaving a comment below. I'll draw a winner at random on Monday!

The winner is Natalie:
