pictures again, mama?
Here's Immie after I asked her if I could photograph her: Bored...so she found some leaves, started dancing....back to serious. That all took place in under a minute, I'd say. Then she was off, no more pictures for mama.
She's wearing the Ice Cream Dress blouse that I made for her a few weeks ago. It's funny, I was so excited to have a day in my studio just for sewing, but I found I was very tense making this top. Every little detail that wasn't perfect bugged me. But I've learned that it is just like knitting—when you take a step back, it's not so bad. I need to give myself some slack and enjoy the process, and not get so hung up on trying to sew perfectly. Otherwise, I'll never get back on my machine again!

camilla kid, petal
I know I am supposed to be knitting Immie's fair isle sweater, but somehow I got it in my head that I needed to make her a Camilla Kid in petal/osprey. So I did. Still need to block and weave in ends.

experimenting
Made this the other night at A Gathering of Stitches. Loving the class, the teacher, Eliza, and my class mates. Turns out Eliza and I went to Parsons at the same time—we even lived in the same dorm, the same year. Such a small world.
And, hey, if you're in Maine, check out the deal Gathering of Stitches is offering:
"From now until the end of October, register for a workshop at full price and your friend (!) gets half off!
Pick the right friend and they'll share that discount with you...."

fawn hoodie corrections
Still fits! Immie continues to be a little small for her age and one benefit to that is she can still wear her Fawn Hoodie.
I'm sorry to say, though, that a knitter found 2 errors in the pattern.
In the Yoke section this row should say:
Next row body only dec row: (RS) *Knit to 3 sts before marker, ssk, k1, sl m, knit across sleeve sts, sl m, k1, k2tog; rep from * one time, knit to end—(4 sts dec'd) 22 (29, 26, 31, 37, 39, 41, 47, 48, 48) sts rem.
And also in the hood section, after the decrease row, the pattern says to repeat the inc row but this should say:
Rep dec row....
I can't believe these mistakes snuck by us! There were three of us who went over this pattern. So sorry for any confusion this may cause.
ps: You may notice Immie has a bit of a shiner! Poor little monkey was jumping on the bed, fell off, and bumped her head. Had to get one stitch above her eyebrow!!

so simple
Yesterday, Quince launched a little collection, Basics for Babe, that includes 4 knit patterns for baby. The project has been in the works since last year, so I'm excited to have the ebook out in the world now.
If you've been reading this blog you know that last spring my family suffered the terrible loss of my father. Not surprising, it was really hard to get my brain back to a productive place after it happened. Pam was very thoughtful and gave me a lot of time to "heal"and didn't want to rush me. She suggested, kindly, that I work on a project that really spoke to me, whatever I wanted. So, I chose the patterns that are in this ebook—a small grouping of simple, unisex patterns with a gentle palette. It was very therapeutic...all that meditative garter stitch in those soft colors....
Anyway, that's the back story.
Hope you enjoy these teeny tiny knits!
