mine

I made this here hat. Fast, fun to knit and warm to wear. SO, I'm keeping it for Myself. I always give my hats away (or they seem to wander off to admirers), but not this time.

My friend just sent me a link to this poster. Maybe for my studio?

This is a bulky yarn that accidentally made its way into a cold water wash. oops! But, I'm digging the soft felty haze my swatch now has.

Hannah stopped by with her family last weekend. I held their new little lad...he's a total cutie pie!

giving

It's not hard to tear up every time one thinks of the Haitian people and what they are going through right now. I have to say how very impressed I am to see the kindness and warmth our knitting community reveals at a time like this. It is so great that designers like Connie and Ysolda (and many others—I'm tagging along, too), are donating portions of their pattern sales to the relief efforts. AND, also amazing, all the wonderful knitter's out there who are supporting this effort.

happy snowy monday

I've always wanted a chevron printed sheep...hmmm.
Well, it's snowing here. I feel like I'm in a wonderful snow-globe when I work in my studio on a snowy day.

steeked

I opened up a newsletter from my LYS and there I was! My first experience with steeking. Thankfully, in the comfort of company.

spin

Pam Allen and I took a spinning class together yesterday. It was fun and frustrating and fun and frustrating. I think I started to get the feel for it by the end—especially with that Blue Face Leicester roving.
Must practice.

ps...please excuse the dirty barn floor...

with the help of toddie, i moved my studio around. poor guy! i told him it was just a little shifting around, but as i began mapping out what i wanted to change i realized it was a bit more involved than i had first thought. he was a good sport, though. and now i have a wonderful new set-up.
karen's coming over...i am going to make some more prints for her.

i always look forward to the New Year for that sense of...newness. new beginnings, new habits, new adventures, new inspirations. a fresh start. so, with that said, i begin the next chapter of my work life. i have decided, after a fun year and a half at Classic Elite Yarns, to move on to other work opportunities. mostly, i hope to help my husband work on our home renovations! this is very exciting for the both of us. i'll also continue working on Madder when i can, odd jobs with previous employers, and there are a few other possibilities on the horizon. cheers to 2010!
above photo: something for swoon
SD2 update: still tinkering...i'm thinking about getting out my 4x5 camera this weekend or the next.
